IMPHAL, Aug 11: Students under the aegis of Socialist Students Union
Manipur (SSUM) today stormed Education (S) Directorate at Lamphelpat
today.
They were demanding introduction of biometric attendance
system in Government schools, filling up of vacant teachers’ posts and
providing adequate infrastructure.
The students came there in a bus.
Although security personnel tried to block them, the students overcame
them and reached the entrance of the office building. They raised
different slogans there. SSUM key functionary Yumlembam Rojen
said that the Government must fulfil their demands by August 10. He said
that they would continue their movement until these demands are
fulfilled. He said that Government school teachers must be asked to
admit their wards in Government schools.
