Imphal, Nov 14 2016:
The Socialist Students Union of Manipur (SSUM) has threatened to launch counter economic blockade if the ongoing economic blockade imposed by the United Naga Council (UNC) on National Highways of the state is not relaxed by November 14 midnight.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, SSUM publicity secretary Naorem Tanoranjan appealed to the UNC to look for alternative forms of agitation regarding their demands as all sections of people have been suffering a lot due to the economic blockade.
The worst affected section is the student community with school transport services suspended due to non availability of fuel.
He further pointed out that it was time for final examinations of all schools.
He also alleged that the State Government and Home Department of the State have failed to take up any kind of remedial steps.
