Women of Kongba bazaar demands terrorist label to UNC

Imphal, 04 January 2017:
     Women folk of Kongba Bazar area under Imphal East have staged sit-in protest at Kongba Bazar demanding state government to label United Naga Council as a terrorist group today.

     Protestors warned launching of series of agitations if the issue is not solved at the earliest. Speaking to media persons, secretary of Kongba Bazar Women Association, Konthoujam Pramodini lamented state government for not announcing the group as terrorist till today and for treating the leaders of UNC under police custody for giving special treatment instead of booking under National Security Act.
     She further condemned state government blaming that the government is only focusing on preparation of elections while neglecting peoples’ woe because of two month long blockade.
     She warned that, the tolerance limit has crossed; now we women are all set to launch agitations along with supporters and student bodies like Socialist Students’ Union of Manipur (SSUM). Today’s sit-in protest was organised by SSUM.
